Leon Wiggenhauser

(B.A. Japanese Studies)

In our rapidly globalising world, it is more important than ever to cross borders and work together to face the problems that cannot be tackled by any one country on its own.
NMUN gives us the opportunity to study as well as experience the inner workings of the United Nations, the epitome of multilateral relations and cooperation on an international level.
Whilst living and working in Japan, where one single mistaken word or gesture can completely change the outcome of a meeting or negotiation, I not only learned about the importance of cultural awareness and diplomacy, but I also witnessed what can be achieved once these difficulties have been overcome.
It is because of my experiences, a strong political interest and felt responsibility that I decided to participate in this programme and I will do my best to properly represent the Republic of Azerbaijan in New York.
